About this game

Hugo Sinberg is one of Finland’s most symbolically important artists. Myth, fairy tales and imagination gave Sheinberg a new artistic language. It makes it possible to express difficult and complex thoughts and emotions. Although sometimes naive in style, Sheinberg’s work is not monolithic in interpretation, but contains multiple intersecting layers and levels of interpretation.

This unique virtual reality exhibition showcases Sheinberg’s light-sensitive, paper-based paintings that would suffer from many constraints in traditional exhibition spaces. These works were created in the late 1890s, early in Sheinberg’s career as an artist, when he remained in Roversi to study under Axel Gallen-Carrera and traveled to London, Paris and Italy.

This exhibition is a big step forward for the National Gallery of Finland, introducing innovative ways to share our collections with the public. Virtual environments allow the details of small-scale original works to be made much larger and presented in an environment that does not follow the laws of the physical world. In other words, the exhibition can be provided with an experiential space that draws on Sheinberg’s imaginative world. The world of Hugo Simberg is a fascinating journey that will sweep you away.
